Poetry & Creative Writing

A passion for writing has been a continuous presence in Cierra’s life, beginning in childhood and endlessly taking new shape. She had a number of pieces featured in Teen Ink while she was in high school. While an undergraduate at Webster University, she briefly studied under Missouri poet laureate David Clewell. Recently, her poetry has been featured in several additions of Bad Jacket, and she will also be featured in UMSL’s forthcoming publication of Bellerive.

In 2016, she self-published her first full-length collection of poetry, The Horse and the Water. It is available on Amazon, and at local St. Louis merchant Dunaway Books. She is currently working on her second collection of poetry, The Casket and the Peephole, which is expected to be published in the Spring of 2020. She is also working on a yet-to-be-titled collection of letters to various socially and historically prominent archetypal femme fatales, as well as actively developing her first nonfiction book.

Cierra can be intermittently found performing at both open- and closed-mic readings around St. Louis throughout the year, and always looks forward to meeting and networking with other writers, agents, and publishers.

While at Webster University, Cierra studied under Missouri poet laureate David Clewell as well as California Book Award recipient Steve Lattimore.
