Shalom.

I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where both of my parents were paramedics for the city. I graduated from Webster University in 2015 with a BA in philosophy and minors in psychology and religious studies. The Horse and the Water, my first full-length collection of poetry and prose, was published in August of 2017. My second book, Darken Your Door, was published in 2023 in affiliation with Back of the Class Press. My husband Ricky and I married in 2017, and we have two amazing little girls. I previously studied to be an EMT, and graduated with my BSN from UMSL in December 2022. I work as an RN in the Emergency Department of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

In my “free time,” I enjoy generalized revelry, feeding my addiction to trashy romance novels, and doing artsy nonsense. I hope to one day hike the Appalachian Trail, adopt a Newfoundland, and attain a Harley Davidson Fat Boy.

You can follow me on my blog, on Instagram @cierra.was.here.poetry, and on my Facebook page Cierra the Poet. You could also follow me around Aldi or the gardening department of Home Depot, but I’d probably get creeped out.
